The Woods Wizard's Camping Page
You must answer The Three Big camping questions:

What to bring?
Where to go?
What to do when you get there?

... not necessarilly in that order.

By answering these questions, you will be better able to take want is needed and not leave behind anything you don't need.  The goal is to make all effort to make your camping buddies happy, mainly the wife and kids.
What to bring?
Make a list of all the things you want to have at camp.  Start with the basics.  Coffee, toilet paper and beer. If it's hot you may want a fan.  You may want a clean shower.  If there isn't a shower available how will you get a bath?  TVs require electricity, you'll need exstension cords.  If it rains you'll need some kind of canopy or tarp.  Are you going to use a tent or rent a cabin?  Are you bringing a baby and what are its needs?  How will you cook? How will you clean the pots?  Does the campsite have a picnic table?

This brainstorming will help determine the answer to the next questions.
Tip:
Make a menu of things you want to eat before you go.

Preparing things like salids ahead of time save time and effort at the camp site.
The magic word for a good and fun camping trip is:

PREPARATION!
What to do when you get there?
Set up camp, go fishing, Barbque, build a camp fire and roast marshmillows.
Go hunting or kick back and read.

Please don't feed the wild life.

Avoid picking the flowers, walking in the poison ivy, cutting the trees.
Where to go?
If you haven't already done so, pick a place to camp.  Once you've done that you can determine what utilities are available.  You will want to add or remove items from the list.  Remember what you pack in you'll have to pack out.
A note about wives. You want to be misrable out in the woods?
Plan a lot of cooking using lots of pots and things.  Put her in the camp with nothing to do, and with dirty kids who have nothing to do on a hot muggy rainy weekend with the bugs.
Then look at her look at you and remember that this is your idea to go camping.

Think and prepare or beware!
