Church Officers and Staff All church officers must be members of the church. The officers of this church shall be as follows... Section I. Pastor: 1. The pastor is responcible for leading the church in functioning as a New Testament Church. 2. The pastor will lead the congregation, the organizations, and the church staff in performing their tasks. 3. He shall support the full program and be a tither. 4. The pastor will give himself to the Ministry of the Word and the leadership of the congregation. 5. He shall preach at the regular worship services of the church; and he shall be the moderator of allmeetings for the transaction of business. 6. He shall give general supervision to all activities of the church and shall be an exoffcio member of all committees. 7. He shall examine all candidates for baptism as to their conversion and shall instruct and supervise instruction of all new members in the duties and privileges of membership. 8. He shall visit the sick and offer consolation to those who may be in sorrow or distress to the best of his ability and shall strive for the spiritual development of the entire membership of the church. 9. A pastor shall be chosen and called by the church whenever a vacancy occurs. His election shall take place at a meeting called for that purpose, of which at least one weeks public advance notice shall be given. 10. A pulpit committee shall be appointed by the church to seek out a suitable pastor, and their recommendations will constitute a nomination, though any member has the privilege of making other nomiations according to the policy established by the church. 11. The committee shall bring to the consideration of the church only one man at a time. 12. Election shall be by a secret ballot, on affirmative vote or two-thirds of those present being necessary for a choice. 13. The pastor, thus elected, shall serve intil the relationship is terminated by his request or the church's or by death. Section II. Church Staff: 1. The church shall call or employ such staff members as the church shall beed. A job description shall be written when the need for staff members are determined. 2. The secretaries and custodians shall be recommended by the pastor and or vocational staff member to who he/she is directly responsible. 3. The recommendation shall be made to the Personnel Committee, who in turn shall make the recommendation to the church for its approval or disapproval. Section III Deacons THIS SECTION IS NOT AVAIVABLE AT THIS TIME. Section IV. Moderator: 1. The moderator shall be the pastor at all business conferences, special call conferences, etc. 2. In the absence of the pastor, the Ch. of the Board of Deacons shall preside. 3. In the absence of both the pastor and the Ch. of the Board of Deacons, the clerk shall preside. Section V. Clerk: 1. A Clerk shall be elected annually. He/she shall be nominated by the nominating committee and elected by the church. 2. The clerk shall keep a suitable book of records of all the actions of the church except as otherwise herein provided. 3. The clerk is responsible for keeping a register of the names of members dates of their admission, dismission, or death, and a record of baptisms. 4. The clerkshall issue letters of recommendations that are requested by other Baptist churche, drop from the church roll any member joing a church of another denomination upone the vote of the church. 5. Give legal notice of all meetings where such notices are required by these by-laws. 6. Preserve on file all comminications and written official reports. 7. All church records are church property and shall be filed in the church office. |
