Gig #6 - Sacramento County Fair. We had to follow a hypnotist and a Southern clog/stomper/square-dance group. Both of whom ran waaaay long (30 extra minutes each) and drew large crowds - which kinda worried us a bit. (I'll tell you this - You don't know fear until you've had to play Hard Rock right after a square-dance group)

Even with all of this, the show went off much better than the last one - (both the previous Fair show and last night at The Boardwalk. ). We cranked the amps down. I brought an amp for the keys and ran them through Darryl's spare cabinet, so we had total control of their volume. We didn't get to mike everything, but even so the mix was excellent - now that us and the Fair soundguy - who looks so much like Dennis Franz of "NYPD Blue" (Sipowitcz), he could be his brother - are communicating on the same wavelength.

We only played 6 songs (because of the lack of time) but it was cool. We didn't have as many people watching us as the cloggers did - but they were into it, even the older people. One older couple even got up and slow-danced to Shades of Grey. (They didn't mosh to the other songs, though - darn)

Afterward a lot of people came up to us and said we did good. Too little kids wanted our autographs. A promoter came up to us and asked if we were available travel and play gigs.

It was all very kewl, our best show so far.

Oh, and the sound guy said he really was Dennis Franz brother. Imagine that.
