At rehearsal on Monday (May 10th) - Darryl showed up with a big surprise. Which was just the first one for that day...

A fully mastered and finalized version of our CD.

He'd gone over to the house of friend (a friend who has Cakewalk software) and worked a trade. He promised to do some playing for the guy (Bruce Cox - of Demopro, who incidentally is a great singer himself), and we got a completely mastered CD (from our existing DAT copies) out of the deal.

6 hours and six pack of beer later - it was done.

    Not bad, eh?

Almost immediately after Darryl made this annoucement and we listened to the finished product for the first time, things turned surreal...and we we're hit with our second surprise.

With a finalized CD, we began discussing the next step - which is the Art Direction for the CD - logo, cover and insert design, etc. Dave Cates (drums) decided that he wasn't having enough creative input into the band (an issue which had surfaced before - many times), and that he'd had enough.

He quit - right then and there.

    (Uh oh, Time to scramble...)

We have another gig coming up in two weeks at The Boardwalk. , June 4th - and we were offered a headlining spot at Cheerleaders, since Monday we've contacted three replacement drummers who are interested and capable of playing the shows - including a former member of Vicious Rumors. One of them has already said he can sit in on our gigs at least until July - we should know by tommorro if we can get the person that we really want as a permanent replacement (Someone whose group has just recently broken up...)

This reminds me of what the Galactic Cowboys recently went through when Alan Doss (drums) quit two weeks before their tour...

    Stay tuned.
