News & Review Advertisement for 01/20/00 Show at Bigshots - click to enlarge Finally and at last, Planet X performed at one of Sacramento's premeire venues - Big Shots Billiards in Roseville. There are several reason why we hadn't played here before, but the primary reason was lack of money. (It's a pay-to-play venue...but we don't play dat). Promotor Steve Sydell (Formerly a member of the Sacramento band Deepwell), has booked us on most of our shows outside of Downtown - and this was one of those shows. Now, the situation wasn't absolutely ideal, we were playing on a Thursday night, and we were playing last (The Suicide Slot) - but why quibble over details? I even heard that Bob (former "Twist of Fate" bassist) was at this show.

Opening the show was Burner, who weren't bad when we saw them last week, but had improved immensely since then. They put on an excellent high-energy show - which is usually rather difficult for a three peice band. Usually someone has to stand at the mic and sing all night, but they made it work just fine. Tommy Mill's and Oil Kan also put on a ripping show, with Tommy jumping off stage and running around the club while belting out blues licks on his fender strat.

    Then came our turn.

Advertisement Flyer for 01/20/00 Show at Bigshots - click to view Bigshots has a great stage and an excellent sound system. It was one of the few shows we've done where we could really hear ourselves. Having that much space after all the cramped shows we've done lately was a blessing, and we definately took advantage of it. Imagine what it would be like to set loose caged weasels...and you have an idea of how hyper we were. They let us play a pretty long set, nearly an hour, which included most of teh songs from out CD, plus "Harden", "Faith", "Go" and "Not LIke U".

As usual, we videotaped the show - which has lots of juicey bits like me somersaulting across the stage to duck under Ron's Bass. We also setup a DAT and minidisc recorder to capture the audio, so you never know - some live Planet X tracks might be coming at you soon, so stay tuned to the "X" Channel.
