Today we received notification that Planet X Rocks.COM has been nominated in the new Online Music Awards for Best Website by an Unsigned Band. Needless to say this is a surprise to US - but surprises like this we can live with. The awards are being conducted by Artistdirect which manages the Ultimate Band List. Just a few weeks previous I had added our group to the UBL, and apparently that is how we were chosen to be included as a nominee. Only five bands out of the literally thousands which are on the UBL were nominated, so this is a VERY large honor.

The selection of the winner is to be done via web based voting by members of Artistdirect. Joining ArtistDirect is free, and from what I can tell - fairly painless. (I'm a member and I haven't gotten much Spam mail, except for the nomination and that's the kind of Spam I like)

The competition is fairly stiff - I especially like the Big Sky site for it's graphic design, and the Adam Blue site for it's use of Macromedia. Even so, we DO want to win and to do that we need - (Unsubtle hint:) YOUR VOTES.

When people tell you that simply being nominated is honor enough, they are FULL OF IT. I wanna go on stage at the House of Blues in L.A. and gloat - just for 30 seconds. So sue me.
