if the internet was a shirt, this would be the sleeve and this is how we hang our hearts out on it...

no bullshit, no guns, no padded bras...
Clockwork orange was born in a garage in Bangalore, India in 2001. And as all good stories begin with conflict, this one does too...
Samira and Narayan were in a band called dharma tree that played corporate gigs for event managers and the odd competition. a happy and lucrative place to be when coming into your own as a musician and a performer. unfortunately, there are only so many times that you can allow yourself to play smoke on the water...
frustrated with playing directionless music, we arrived at a very important question..."where do we go from here?" there we were... nurtured on a steady diet of melody masters and margaritas and very, very bored. Enter Johnny mnemonic a.k.a bobby. another likeminded musician who had paid his dues to the amorphous and chaotic world of Indian rock. so, one fateful and sweltering summer evening in his jam room a pact was made and young clockwork orange was born.
there's a reason they call 'em young and foolish... well...in our case, we decided to spend a good part of every day in rehearsal and away from the public eye until we were the tightest most incredible sound to ever assault an auditory canal... it worked for queensryche, so why not us? well the answer is quite elementary. they already had a record deal, management, goodwill and a basement...(history: vocalist Geoff Tate was the last to complete queensryche, and EMI signed them on before the band had played a single live show )
Nevertheless, our cult of personality persevered in our own little vacuum. relentlessly writing songs, discarding songs and writing more songs. moving into jam rooms and getting thrown out of jam rooms. finally, a whole year later, we decided that we were ready to hit the stage. at our very first competition in Mount Carmel College we not only won first place, but walked away with most of the individual prizes as well. did we gloat??? you're damn right we did!!!
a couple of gigs later, we came to terms with the fact that our drummer wasn't on...our...wavelength. the events that occurred after can be best explained as a clash of personalities. and what followed was a creative hiatus that lasted way too long. no drummer, no cry... but that also meant no band...
That's when Yasmin stepped in. initially it was just to cover our asses for a gig in Chennai. but as it turns out, the planets were favorably aligned and we got along great. she's an exceptional drummer... and if you don't want to be kicked in the knackers, never bring up that sexist bullshit about being appreciated as a woman, as far as this band is concerned. check it out for yourself.
anyway, it was in late 2002, that clockwork orange became a cohesive unit once again. because of and despite... all the various strains of rock, metal, jazz and blues in our blood, our own sound is Progressive metal.
this is a personal invitation and call to arms from us to you, oh! most honorable and wonderful reader.... to come to our next gig if we can't come to you first and check out our new song utopia.
cheers and enjoy your next beer.
