The Aikido Page

Aikido is a defensive martial art, developed by Morieh Ueshiba, where the practitioner blends with the energy of an attack rather than clashing with the attacker. He then uses the attackers energy to throw or pin the attacker. I hold the rank of nidan (second degree black belt) in Aikido from the Aikido World Alliance.

Essay: What is Aikido?

Here is an essay I wrote for my black belt test. It describes how Aikido can be used in other ways besides physical combat.

Essay: History of Aikido

This is a brief history of Aikido. It mainly focuses on the life of Morieh Ueshiba followed by an even briefer history of Fumio Toyoda Sensei, the Aikido Association of America and the Aikido World Alliance.
