Superman: Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Great Adventures is an okay ride.  Its a flying coaster built by the masters of all things coaster B & M.  I like this ride, but its hella short just like I wrote in my ride review
I recently rode This version of Superman in the front row, and it was a lack luster front row experience.  Somehow, the ride, upon reaching the top of the lift hill,  just seemed to take a bit long to get going.  Its natural for this to happen being that the front of the train has to wait for the back to clear before gravity takes over, but being that you are facing the ground,  and hanging by your chest, your head naturally looks upward, therefore craining your neck back a bit.  I haven't realized how uncomfortable this position is.
This onride shot is interesting.  The camera is set up at the base of the heart loop where riders are on their back.  So in this picture, we are actually laying down, in lieu of being in a flying position.
Flying Coaster - A rollercoaster where the riders are set in a Flying position, where by they are facing the ground, and the track is above them.  You will usually find Flying and Lay Down Coasters with at least 7 rows of 4 seats. It is possible for a Flying 'Coaster to flip riders into a Laying position, however riders aren't laying down as much as riders are flying.

Lay Down Coaster - A rollercoaster where the riders are locked in a laying down position where by they are facing the sky and the track is below them.  It is possible for a lay down 'coaster to flip riders in a flying position, however, more track elements such as corkscrew and boomerrang inversions are possible.  Rider's spend just about the same time flying as they do laying.  Usually Lay Down coasters pull riders up the lift hill on their backs and flip them into a flying position once they begin the first drop.

Developers can acheive a taller and faster track design with a lay down 'coaster.
