Great American Scream Machine (GASM) at Six Flags Grerat Aventures is an okay ride.  Its one of those rides where with every ride it feels like a different 'coaster.  Sometimes it feels as though the wheels on the train are square, other times its and not bumpy at all.

Interesting fact.  Did you know that the supports and track is filled with sand to muffle the sound of the coaster?  This is the reason why this rollercoster its called "Scream Machine."  Many riders naturally yell (or sceam)  at the top of their lungs while on 'coasters.  But the sound from the wheels on the coaster, and the echoing that happens in the hollow supports, amplifys the roar of the coaster to the point where you can only hear a few guests either having fun, or scared out their wits.   The funny thing is, on this ride you will more than likely not hear people screaming.  You will hear riders yell, "Oh SH*T!!"  or "OUCH my fu*king neck, " or "This FU*KING thing hurts!!!"

This ride brings out the potty mouth sailer in all of us.  Really it does.  Never ever ever, for all things good and holy, never sit in the back row of this ride.  Please heed my warning.

           THIS RIDE HURTS.

I have had some good experiences while on this ride, but the bad experiences far out weighs the good ones. This ride is so rough, they had to retro fit the red, white and blue trains with regular round wheels, as opposed to the standard egg-shaped ones.

I recently ridden this coaster in the front row, and I looked over to Divine and asked her: "Whose idea was this anyway?"  But you know, it was pretty good.  In order to have a good ride experience on GASM, you would have to sit in the front row, on a cloudy day, where the temperature is between 60 and 70 degrees.   The wind has to be blowing north by north - east ward at 8 MPH, and you have to sit in the red train.  If you follow my easy to use guide, you will have a good ride experience.
