FARADAY'S LAW

When a wire is moved across a magnetic field, a small e.m.f. is produced in the wire. This effect is called electromagnetic induction; an e.m.f. is induced.

In a complete circuit, an induced e.m.f. causes an induced current to flow.

3 factors essential for electromagnetic induction

1. magnetic field;

2. wire, and

3. movement.
