CONSTRUCTION OF A GENERATOR

In an A.C. GENERATOR, an alternating e.m.f. is induced by the rotating coil, and this causes an induced current to flow. The coil can rotate continuously because it is linked to the outside circuit by two carbon brushes which rub against two copper slip-rings fixed to the ends of the coil. The soft iron core is used to strengthen the magnetic field.

Get ready to run the generator.
