CONCLUSION

HOORAY!!

Congratulations you have completed your static magnetic pain therapy web quest. By completing this process you have deepened your understanding of magnetic fields, learned a bit about interpreting the claims of research studies, and participated in a group consensus decision process. You have completed a lot of work in four days, give yourself some applause..

As you have learned first hand, making decisions based on scientific research and claims requires careful and thoughtful analyses. Decisions based on scientific evidence are not always as clear as checking results against the predictions of  textbook formula. Scientists and decision makers must be able to weigh complex and often contradictory evidence from many sources.

Making difficult decisions in a committee by consensus can be a difficult process. Consensus decisions require committee members to trust each other to work together. A committee working towards a consensus is usually working to find an acceptable compromise. The committee reaches a decision and all committee members are at least somewhat comfortable and can support  the product of the committee effort.

The skills you learned involving data evaluation and consensus building are common to many teams in private industry, government, civic and social organizations. Now you are ready to do this again in real life.

BE ANALYTICAL, BE THOUGHTFUL, BE INVOLVED!!
