MEASUREMENT IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
|
Work : - Work is said to be done when the point of application of a force moves. Power : - Power is defined as the rate of doing work. Energy : - An object having a capability to do work is said to possess energy. Kinetic Energy : - The energy possessed by the body due to its motion is termed as kinetic energy. Potential Energy : - The energy possessed by the body due to change of position or shape is termed as potential energy. Gravitational Potential Energy : - The energy due to the work done against gravity is known as gravitational potential energy. Elastic Potential Energy : - The energy possessed by a body due to change in the shape of an object is called elastic potential energy. Mechanical Energy : - The kinetic energy and potential energy together are referred as mechanical energy. Transformation of Energy : - The change of one form of energy into another form of energy is known as transformation of energy. Conservation of Energy : - Energy can only be converted from one form to another; it can neither be created nor destroyed. |
