HISTORY OF GOVERNMENT COLLEGE, HYDERABAD.
I - PRE-PARTITION PERIOD
FOUNDATION 01 October, 1917

It was founded by 01st October, 1917 by Mrs. Annie Besant who was the President of International Theosophical Society, National Educational Movement and National Educational Trust.

Contemplated by a devoted group of renowned philanthropists and elite of the city under the aegis of a trust "Diwan Metharam Gidu Mal Darmada Trust" 
The Land for the college beside the Phuleli Canal was donated by Seth Pertab Rai Manghar Singh.
The college was named as SIND NATIONAL ARTS COLLEGE, HYD
Prof. Dr. Earnst Wood, the Honorary Secretary of the NET was appointed as the first Principal.

RESTORATION OF PREVIOUS NAME
The previous title SIND NATIONAL ARTS COLLEGE was restored after sometime.

The college was closed due to Partition of the Sub-Continent.
II - POST PARTITION PERIOD
  21 June, 1948
The college was took over by the Government of Sind.
Prof. Andrian Duarte became the Principal.

The college was renamed as GOVERNMENT COLLEGE, HYDERABAD
POST GRADUATE M.Sc. CLASSES 1991-92
Post-Graduate Classes started for M. Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Mathematics, and Statistics
