    About the insides:

Torn started in my blog. Early on I was having a hard time posting every day, and I worried that if I didn't get into the habit of regular posting I would end up forgetting about the blog and letting it die on the internet like some of my other projects.

So having been tossing the idea for a book around in my head for quite some time, I decided to start posting chapters. My goal was to have readers come and check out the chapters, and yell at me if I fell behind. A kinda check to make sure I kept up with the blog.

The readers never really came, I think for my lack of internet promotion, but I always kept the thought that they were there in the back of my head. And that thought kept me posting. In only a matter of months I had completed Torn.

            About the outside:
When Word Thunder picked up the book I was given the option of designing my own cover, or allowing them to design one for me. Having never been to much of a visual artist I almost let them design it for me. But I always wondered if it would be a scene on the cover, or some absract design.
I decided that a scene would probably seem dull, or overdone. And I decided that something abstract just might do it. So I downloaded The Gimp, and played with some ideas. What I ended up with was a cover that was agreeable to both me and Word Thunder. So we ran with it.
