Surrendering Information

Phoenix Ashes Rattery has specific policies regarding surrendering rescues.  Because it is my duty to find new homes for all rats that stay for a while at Phoenix Ashes Rattery and Rescue I need to know all that I can about the animal before they come and stay at PAR.

As per the adoption contract, if you adopt from PAR and for whatever reason cannot keep your rat(s) they are required to come back to PAR instead of being placed in an animal shelter or taken to a pet store.

Surrendering Rescues

Please email me if you are interested in having your rats stay at PAR while they look for new homes.  In this email, please tell me the number, ages, and sex of the rats you want me to take.  I will let you know if I have the space for them as soon as possible.  If I cannot take them I will do my best to give you other ratteries and rescues in the area to help you.

Surrendering Policies

Rats coming into PAR must be in good health.  Before I will accept rats into my rat either I or a vet, or both, will need to look the rats over for health problems.  Being a rescue for rats is not a profitable business, and while I love helping rats, I cannot afford to take in sick rats.  I reserve the right to deny rats access to PAR for health reasons.

The owner will be required to sign a surrender contract with PAR and pay at $10.00 surrender fee to cover expenses while the rat stays at PAR.  This fee is not required if the rat was bred at PAR and is returning because the owner cannot keep them.  I will provide the contract at the time of surrender, but can be viewed below.

Surrendering Contract

The rat owner, including ones who have adopted from PAR, will also have to fill out information sheets on each rat so that I will have that information for potential adopters.  These sheets can be printed from home and filled out in your own time.
