About Me

My name is Melissa and I have been in love with rats since I got my first rat Mara in 2001.  I graduated with a bachelors in Biology from St. Olaf College in 2004 and completed an Associates of Applied Science  in Histotechnology in 2005.  I relocated to Milwaukee, WI  to do an internship at a reference lab called DynaCare Laboratories and have now taken a job there working as a Histotechnologist, which is a laboratory personnel who works in a surgical pathology lab taking tissue and making thin sections to put on slides that are then stained, in order to get a diagnosis for a patient.  It is very interesting work.

When I'm not doing Histology or hanging out with my rats I enjoy drawing, reading, and writing.  I am also an avid fantasy roleplayer and spend much of my time either playing tabletop with friends or posting on forums.

I currently am working on improving my art abilities with rat drawings and photos, which I am putting up on DeviantArt.  Feel free to take a look and if you have an interest in getting something done I am happy to do commissions.
