Alberta Trip 2005 - page 4
More fun with filters at Preacher's Point  Left: soft focus; right: gold-n-blue.
The Last Photo.  It was a beautiful day, and I'm sure we all could have gone on shooting for many days yet, but it was time to head back to the lodge for a final wrap-up, to look at some of each other's photos, and to say goodbye.
I left with a bunch of scribbled notes on how to improve my pictures, a Christmas list of camera stuff, a great satisfaction in having been able to join other photographers doing what we love, and a feeling that a glimpse into this magnificent country was not enough... and that I'd have to come back someday.
Then, I have to thank my 'HMS' Rose shipmate Barb for putting up with me for another three weeks, and her and her husband Richard for a lot of driving and a very, umm, interesting tour of backroads Alberta.  Maybe the reason Alberta drivers are so bad is that they're all lost....?  These pictures were taken after the workshop.
Wedge Pond, a spot recommended by Darwin.  I can see why.  We weren't really there at the right time of day, but what sunset light there was, was lovely.
Kananaskis Country.  Left:  Mount Lorette Ponds.  Right: I didn't find out the name of this river, but it was near an observation point where researchers count migrating golden eagles.  An interesting stop.
I spent a day exploring Banff.  Of course the weather was crummy: it rained and snowed all the way there and back.  But, you have to make the best of the conditions you get....  These are at Vermilion Lakes.
Bow River, just above the falls.  Another 10-minute stop for the bus tourists.
Cave and Basin, in Banff:  the site of what became Canada's first national park.
Follow the charging moose to the last page.  It'll be fun...
