| Day 3, continued. Our fearless leader's small concession to civilization was a stop at Lake Louise (left) and Emerald Lake (right). Here are some more bits of landscape. At Lake Louise, I suddenly began to feel a bit bus-touristy, busily snapping pictures, so it was time to put the camera away for a few minutes and just sit looking at the beautiful scenery, and enjoying the moment. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The beauty of travelling with a bunch of photographers, is that no one thinks it at all unreasonable to spend over an hour looking at a bunch of rocks. And there were some marvellous rocks at the Natural Bridge, in Yoho National Park. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Mistaya Canyon, Day 4. Not too bad for lying on the bridge with my head under the railing, hand-holding at 1/4... I can shoot rocks and misty water at home: I'm so lucky... |

| Above: Sunrise, Day 4. At Kootenay Plains again. In the absence of magic light, I played with some filters. Right: Mistaya Canyon. In the time it took me to change my footwear, a German tourist had gone down the hill, peeked into the gorge, and got halfway back up. "It's great," he said, striding past. But will he even remember stopping here, when he gets home...? |

| Nine months after major surgery, I climbed a mountain. Ok, a wee bit of one. WOO HOO. |

| Left: Sunset, day 4. I thought this was why we stopped, but the guys went down to the lake while I went racing madly up the road to catch this light before it was gone. The tourist who pulled over with his son, having seen the collection of tripods near the water, asked "Anything worth seeing out there?" Surrounded by such country, and such light, he has to ask? Right: Day 5. Sunrise at aptly named Windy Point. It was really COLD, and the vapour on the water was all too familiar. The frosted trees and grass were nicely backlit. Too bad it doesn't show well here. |
