Gildersleeves Beer Cellar
A modern day photo of the restored original beer cellar at
Gildersleeves Brewery, now located in the Gildersleeves Museum at Tonawanda.
Must have been romantic
A view of one of the mash kettles, restored for the Gildersleeves Museum. It was in one of these kettles that the Brewmaster allegedly lost his virginity circa 1909.
The Gildersleeves Brew Crew
A special Group Photo of part of the brew crew, taken in 1909, the year that saw production of Gildersleeves Ale go
through the roof. The Brewmaster is the mustachioed man in the hat.
Rodney Q. Staplechewer Rodney Staplechewer, pictured at left, was the assistant to the Brewmaster from 1919 until 1932. Sentenced to prison along with T. Q. Gildersleeves in 1929 for overtly producing and selling beer during Prohibition, Staplechewer would oversee the re-emergance of the Brewery during the Depression. In 1932, he died tragically after drowning in a vat of wort residue inside the brewery. The cause of the accident remains a mystery.
