The Foymount Firehall, at the highest point of the highest settlement in southern Ontario.  Took this photo for Jake
The road into the Ottawa valley from Foymount: 10% grade, where I hit 77km/h with my 100lb bike.  Sweeeeeet:)
A very short day, indeed.  The distance includes some doddling in Foymount and Eganville.  Foymount (502m) is the highest settlement in Southern Ontario, so I took the little detour off the highway - the views of the Ottawa Valley were worth it!  After Foymount the road just drops down out of the hills into the broad valley, somewhat like the east side of the Niagara Escarpment near Duntroon.  That's where I hit 77km/h, faster than in the rockies 2 years ago!  Good fun.  Eganville was a pretty little town with a small dam and gorge in the centre.  I saw people starting the Terry Fox Run, so I donated $20.  Near Eganville are the Bonnechere Caves, which might be interesting in the future.  Oh, and for the 4th time in 5 days I had significant gravel (about 10km approaching Foymount).  Tomorrow should be 100km to Hull, and Gab should be arriving here shortly!  Yay!  Hope she likes (sleeping in) the tent.  Tomorrow I'll probably get her to carry much of my gear in the car, making th ride easier for me:)
Our campsite near Haley Station had a beautiful little lake to swim in.  Out and around the island took about 5min doing breaststroke.  Gab and I are posing in front of a makeshift tripod, which means we had the place completely to ourselves.
