Building A Hover Trailer
This is an old Caravan base that I will modify to carry the Hover. The wheel bearings actually have ball bearings in them, It must be very old. It has spent the last ten Years as a Hover Work bench so I hope it will like the change. The Wheels are 16 inch so the first thing to do is replace them witrh 13 inch wheels. I have also had the track widened slightly to allow the Hover between the wheels with clearance for the Skirt. Any helpful suggestions Appreciated.
The old Stub axles have been removed and new ones welded on, new bearings and hubs fitted to suit the 13 inch wheels. This was Professionally done as I would hate to loose an Axle out on the road somewhere. The axle is a drop axle setup this will help keep the deck height down for easier loading and unloading.Deck height is now 400 mm.(15.7") Ok the old floor has been removed this will be replaced with Galvanised Sheetmetal but first a frame has to be built to support it.
The frame has been measured up So due to the bad weather I will move to the Garage to make up the Frame and then Weld it to the Trailer. The sides will be 280 mm (11.02") high and at roughly the same angle as the Hover sides. Arc welding 25 by 25 by 1.6mm (1"* 1"* tubing is harder than I thought it would be But burning holes in steel is real easy.
