Decorate with boughs of honeysuckle to keep fevers away and to increase psychic powers. Ivy Deity: Osiris Magical Use: Another holy herb, and the female equivalent of holly. Hence the Song "The Holly and the Ivy." Great herb for luck or health. Use in spells where you need the protectio nof a goddess. Plant in your garden or as a houseplant to protect the area. Kava Kava Deity: most Hawiian gods and goddesses Magical Uses: Drink as a tea for good luck and protection. Add to a spell to calm down a difficult situation. Some priests used this to induce visions, but the amount used is very harmful to the kidneys. Medicinal Uses: Sleep and calming taken in pill or tea form. Lavender Powers: Love, protection, Sleep, Chastity, Happieness, Purification, Peace Magical Use: Used commonly in sleep sachets and peace. Scatter around a new home or when you are getting a new roommate to ensure a peaceful time. I use lavender in almost all of my spells to make sure that only loving peaceful thoughts are put into my spells. Lemon Powers: Longevity, Purification, Love, Friendship Magical Uses: Mix the juice with water to purify amulets and jewlery. Lemon trees given as gifts are the ultimate signs of friendship. Mandrake Power: Protection, Fertility, Love, Money, Health Magical Uses: The root is very powerful and can be carved to represent a person (NOT RECOMENDED). The root can also be put on the mantle in your home or burned in the fireplace to protect you through the year. Caution: POISONOUS Mint Deity: Pluto, Hecate Power: Money, lust, Healing, Travel, Protection Magical uses: Strengthens most spells. Another to sprinkle in a wallet or purse. Put a mint sachet in luggage to keep it from being lost. Medicinal Uses: Stomach aches or steamed to clear out sinuses. Good for runny noses and tension headaches. Mistletoe Deity: Apollo, Freya, Venus, Odin Powers: Protection, Love, Hunting, Fertility, Health Magical Uses: A holy herb, especially when found growing on Oak. Cut on Midsummer or Yule to protect you from harm and misfortune for the rest of the year. Mom and I collect mistltoe every Yule. Caution: POISONOUS-to you and to the tree. It is a parasite. Mugwort Deity: Diana, Artemis Powers: Strength, Psychic Powers, Protection, Healing, Astral Projection Magical Powers: use for scrying and divination or add to protect your Tarot cards or runes. Protect yourself or strengthen the results of a spell by adding a dash of this. Use to heal wounds to the ego (or the body). Oak Deity: the dagda, Dianus, Jupiter, Thor, Zeus, Heme, Janus, Hecate, Cybele, Pan Powers: Protection, health, Money, Healing, fertility, Luck Magical Uses: Another holy tree. Use it to make your wand or idols for your altar. Acorns protect you from lightning and harm, as well as illness. Planting an acorn in teh dark of the moon will bring money. Oak brings luck to you and your spell. Meditate under an herb to help the gods hear you. Pomegranate Deity: Persephone, Ceres Powers: Divination, Luck, Wishes, Wealth Magical uses: Most people remember the story of Persephone and Hades. Branches can be used to protect a home. Throwing a pomegranate on the ground can reveal how many children a woman will ahve based on how many seeds fall to the ground. Poppy Deity: Demeter Magical Uses: "Poppies, poppies will make them sleepy." Poppies do help with sleep and prophetic dreams. It can also be used to induce love, promote fertility, and bring money and luck. Rose Deity: Eros, Cupid, Demeter, Isis, Adonis, Aurora Power: Love, Psychic powers, Healing, Luck, Protection Magical Uses: Love spells, of course. Brew for rose tea for divination and healing. Add to spells to it up. Save the roses given to you. Ones given out of love are the best for any spell since they have good energies in them already. |
