Who’s
Potter?
He is a creation of J. K. Rowling a writer from England.
Her books are a success among teens and adults. The first book
was “Harry Potter and the Philosophical Stone” (in the USA
“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”). Some people hate
Potter because of the merchandising
The story is about Harry, an 11-year - old orphan who lives with
his horrible aunt Petunia and uncle Vernon and
abominable cousin, Dudley. Harry enrolls in Hogward,
a special wizard school where every day he learns his craft and
is among kids who are like him. He meets Ron Weasley and Hermione
Granger and they become to be great friends.
Mystery, magic, surprises, jokes, spectacular characters make
the Harry Potter series a great success with kids and their
parents.

JK Rowling got the idea for Harry Potter
in 1990.
JK's real name is Joanne, but she was known as
JK
to keep readers guessing about whether she was a man or a
woman.
The first book - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
-
was rejected by lots of publishers before being snapped up.
The first Potter novel finally came out in 1997.
Potter was a HIT! It was being talked about in playgrounds
across the country.
In 1998, the first book came in America, where it was
re-named
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Many people couldn't wait for the next instalment of the
adventures of Harry
and his mates Ron and Hermione.
Harry Potter and the Chamber Of Secrets hit the shops in
1998.
It was full steam ahead on the Hogwarts Express as the
fourth instalment -
JK Rowling was a superstar!
The third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner Of Azkaban,
came out in 1999.
Adults were as keen as kids to find out the latest from
Hogwarts School of
Witchcraft and Wizardry!
The fourth book - HarryPotter and the Goblet Of Fire - steamed into bookshops in
2000.
Harry Potter and
The Order of the Phoenix came in 2003. It's the fifth book
of JK.
The sixth book -
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince went on sale in 2005.
In the countdown to the release of
the final book Deathly
Hallows, it was announced a
Potter-themed adventure park was going to open in America in
2009.
The final book in the series
went on sale around the world
at midnight
on Saturday 21 July, 2007.
Millions of people finally found out how Harry's adventures
ended.
