A Happy Ending in Alaska

A Brazilian journalist went on a dogsled trip in Alaska and ended up marrying and living there.

“I’m a Rio de Janeiro native and I’ve always enjoyed traveling. For me vacations have always been synonymous with travel and photography. A few months after the end of a meaningful relationship, I took a vacation from my newspaper job. Now what? I’d never my vacation alone. I decided to choose an unusual, unforgettable place, one that would provide a heartwarming experience. All right, but where?

-         Why not a dogsled trip in Alaska? – a friend suggested.

-         Yeah, why not? – I thought.

I surfed the Internet and soon embarked on an adventure: eight days on a dogsled in a national park in Alaska. At the Fairbanks Airport I met my four partners in the adventure. Thence we flew to Bettles, a 50-inhabitant village. There was where everything happened. On my second day there I met Kelly, who has lived there since she was a loddler. We were married late in October, after I traveled to Brazil.”
