Mostly beneath the forest of Cedars, in the north of the country, the village
of becharre enjoys an attitude of 1,400 meters from where it overlooks the
Kadisha Valley. This is the birthplace of celebrated Lebanese poet, painter
and philosopher, Gebran Khalil Gebran, and there is a
museum in his honor that you can visit.
From Besharre, you are only a short distance from the Kadisha Valley. This holy valley
is where you can find an absolute wealth of small grottos, hermitages, monasteries
and convents often carved out of the rock face where the early religious devotees
once lived.
