CHAPTER 6, Google
Google was created at Stanford in 1998. Google has the largest database of all of the leading search engines. Goolgle uses not only it's database but also the Web Directory from the Open Directory Project. Google is the only search engine that indexes the full text of PDF files. Use of Boolean operators are limited, but Google still does a good job of searching.
Both yahoo and Netscape uses Google's database. Google is a play on the word googol, coined in 1938 by an mathematician's 9yr old son, it means 1 followed by 100 zeros.
Of the page specific search options, the links is the most useful, Webmasters and creators use this to get a handle on a site's popularity.
