UFO's and Aliens - a theory by Peter (Pierre) Liu

Definitions:

UFO's - Unidentified Flying Objects of extra-terrestrial nature

Aliens - Extra-terrestrial aliens

Deep space travel - inter-stellar travel, not inter-planetary travel

Warp speed - the speed of light

The Theory:

That the probability of UFO's or aliens having ever reached earth is zero. The probability of any UFO or aliens reaching earth in the infinite future is practically zero. The theory is outlined in the 9 fundamentals, of which 8 are listed below:

The Fundamentals:

1. Nothing with any significant mass can be accelerated close to the speed of light, let alone exceeding it. WARP 1 speed will always be fiction. (Ref. Theory of relativity - Einstein) FTL (Faster Than Light)

2. The problems with deep space travel are enormous. If a trip to the next star means a one way, multi-generation journey of thousands of years, the space ship would have to be self-sufficient in everything necessary for survival for that length of time. Other issues to consider include procreation and re-population in space, physiological degradation, psychological, social, linguistic, cultural and even technological alienation from the mother planet within a few generations.

3. Not all stars can support planets that can support life.

4. Space (or the universe on the whole) is definitively anti-life not pro-life. This makes long term survival of any life form very precarious.

5. Life must exist elsewhere. But life with advanced technology is evidently very rare. Had the dinosaurs not gone extinct there might still not be advanced technology on this planet to-day. So there may only be very few civilisations with advanced technologies in each galaxy. This is borne out by the evidence that no radio signal has ever been picked up despite SETI's searching for over 30 years.

6. Contact between civilisations within the galaxy is not only made practically impossible by the immensity of space but also by the non-contemporanity of time, i.e. civilisations may not exist in 'contactable' time relative to each other. Space & time is a double whammy!

7. Contact between civilisations in different galaxies? The answer is in two words: im - possible.

8. Civilisations need advanced technology to make contact but technology is a double edged sword. Dinosaurs lasted for over 150 million years because they did not have it. For them there was never a possibility of self-generated catastrophe. Their cause of extinction was extrinsic; unlike civilisations with advanced technologies which bring in an additional catatrophe factor arising either from self aggression or eco system collapse due to rapid population growth.
