7/4/07 - IT'S FINISHED! - Mark, Jim & Pete have completed the final mix of "Sacred Rite V - Resurrection"! The master will be sent to the replicators this week, which means as soon as the discs are made, the CD will be available. We will post the release date here as soon as the replicators tell us when they will be ready. Look for a sample at www.myspace.com/sacredrite as early as next week!
3/31/07 - LATEST ON 'RESURRECTION' - Word has it that Mark, Jim & Pete have finished a preliminary mix of the new album, and are left with only a few finishing touches to add before the project is complete! Pete said: "The album sounds fantastic! Sacred Rite fans will love it, and it has a bit of a modern edge that we hope will attract a whole new audience. We only have a few bells & whistles left, and by summer, we hope to be able to post an audio preview of "Sacred Rite V - Resurrection" at www.myspace.com/sacredrite, with a release date coming shortly after that."
We can't wait!
11/11/06 - LATEST ON 'RESURRECTION' - Things are moving along nicely on the 'Resurrection' project. Track recording is about 98% done, and the final mix isn't expected to take long. And rumor has it that Michael Whelen is on board to do the artwork! Check back for more news next month!

9/23/06 - THE RUMORS ARE TRUE! - Mark, Jim and Pete have been working on a new Sacred Rite project since 2004, and are getting very close to a finished product. The new CD will be called 'Resurrection' and promises to be a fitting follow-up to their classic power-metal masterpiece 'Is Nothing Sacred'. The boys have done a detailed interview about the new CD, and you can read it at the METAL COVEN website. There is no release date set as of yet, but we will post an update here every month to let you know how the project is progressing.

Mark Kaleiwahea has been subbing in the lead guitar position for SLAUGHTER on their summer tour...
Someone said something about Mark, Jim, and Pete all working together on a new project! Wouldn't THAT be cool? No details as of yet, but more to come in the near future...

1/5/05 - HAPPY NEW YEAR! - We're going to kick off 2005 with the release of "SACRED RITE : Live - Coconut Grove 10/19/83". The whole concert (plus two previously unreleased studio tracks) is now available on CD-R.

Also - Jimmy Caterine's second solo release is finished and will be available very soon. Jimmy says it's much heavier and guitar-based than his previous release, "Cognition". We'll let you know as soon as it's available.

10/13/04 - From MUSIC INDUSTRY NEWS NETWORK - Oct. 2004 - "Sacred Rite Lives!!! Well, not exactly.... But it is Sacred Rite live at the Coconut Grove. This is a must for any collector of Heavy Metal bootlegs. Sacred Rite independently released 3 LP's in the mid-1980's. Jimmy Caterine and Peter Crane continued as independent's after a distribution deal with Capital went sour and major label deal with Polygram fell through. Several bands and several independent releases later, Sentenel Steel Records, another independent, in conjunction with the former members of Sacred Rite, re-released the 3 classic records in a two volume compilation entitled Rites of Passage in 2002.
Sacred Rite live at the Coconut Grove is a bootleg originally recorded on cassette by a fan in the audience. The tape was recently acquired by Caterine and converted to a digital format.
The concert is being released in 4 parts as a free digital download at www.caterine-music.com. Part 1 is available now with consecutive parts on the way.
Jimmy Caterine stated, "I just thought it would be something cool to share with old Sacred Rite fans as well as new fans while they await the completion of the new CATERINE CD. I did alright with my 2003 release 'Cognition' but am hoping to do even better with the next one by giving some stuff away and by hopefully bringing more of the old fans back into the fold."
Though it was not stated, there was implication that there may be talk among the 3 surviving members of a Sacred Rite reunion. We'll have to wait and see on that one."

| We received the terrible message today that Kevin Lum has passed away. A friend of Kevin's told us: "Kevin had been feeling bad since the summer.�He had a lot of trouble controlling his blood sugar which contributed to his poor health and his eventual death from acute heart failure.� His brother, Harry, a retired ER doctor, was home for Thanksgiving at the time, and said that irregular blood sugar levels cause the quick damage of internal organs.� Kevin felt no pain and passed in his sleep. Kevin quit his job at BKliban (the Cat t-shirt store that used to be carried by Crazy Shirts) this summer.� He was an accountant and sales associate.� He also taught drum lessons in his home to children.� That was his favorite job. We are all very sadded by Kevin's passing. He was much too young. He did have great success as a young drummer with Sacred Rite though. He used to talk about it like it was yesterday." |
Kevin was a gifted musician and a great friend and brother who will be dearly missed by friends and music fans around the world.
We want to say thank you to all of you who've contacted us since the website opened in 2000. We've had e-mail from Germany, France, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Poland, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, and the US. It still blows us away that there are people all over the world who remember SACRED RITE. We are so grateful, and so excited about bringing SR's memory back to life.
