| One of the special events held in conjunction with the KLFF is the Asian Amateur Film Award which acts as a showcase for promising, young film-makers from the Asian region. The premise of the event is to propagate quality film-making at the grassroots level under a non-commercial category. | To commemorate the first KLFF, the KLFI students draw inspiration from the location of the festival itself, KL's Chinatown. Working on an urban-themed story, they've adapted William Shakespeare's timeless tale of love and violence, Romeo and Juliet. |
