Return to Ward Board Meeting Ideas

This one is very effective ....

you get three people to do role playing...
[narrator, person #1, and person #2]

We've used this one in a leadership meeting.  Sorry about the leaders being the watchdog... this is the way it came my way.

SHEPHERD, SHEEPHERDER, OR SHEEP Which are you?

Narrator: Why are you a sheepherder?

1. I'm only doing this until I get another more important job. It's no big deal but it's a living; a small living.

Narrator: Why are you a sheepherder?

2. I'm not!  I'm a shepherd!

Narrator: I thought they were they same thing,  but...Why are you a shepherd?

2. Because I love my sheep and want to take care of them. This is the job I want most to do. It doesn't pay much, but it brings so much joy and happiness.

Narrator: Don't you just love your sheep?

1. Not really. They're all the same; so dumb. They drive me crazy. I have to beg and plead, push and prod and usually get mad before I can make them do what I want. Sometimes I don't like any of them.

Narrator: Do you think they're all the same?

2. No. Each one is unique and so special. They each have various talents, needs and wants. You have to get close to them before you can find out these differences. But if you become their friend, they will go out of their way to please you and will follow your voice.

Narrator: Do you worry about them?

2. All the time...especially when I'm not with them. Sometimes I get so worried I'll go out and check on mine.

Narrator: Don't you worry about them?

1. Yes. I worry about them when I'm at work. I don't want to get into trouble, you know,  and I'm very glad to go home on weekends I love not having any permanent responsibility . What happens to them when I'm not here is no concern of mine.

Narrator: But what happens to them if a wolf comes?

1. I just hope I'm not here when he does. I'm  not paid well enough to face him... I won't risk my life...that's why I have a dog!

Narrator: A dog?

1. Well, yes. My dog scares the wolves away or he should. That's why he is out there with me...to protect me.

Narrator: Does your dog protect you?

2. He would, but I only have a dog to warn me when the wolves try to sneak into the flock. I'm the one responsible for my sheep...not my dog!  I will do everything  in my power to protect my sheep, even risk my life, before calling for the aid of my dog.

Narrator: What if one of your lambs strays?

1. I leave my dog in charge and go after the lost lamb.

2. Not me! The owner won't miss one or two every now and again.  He has so many, he won't even notice.
