| Your wanderings through the large apartment finally
bring you to a hallway. Behind you the sounds of Pachelbel's "Canon"
echo as your feet lead you down the hall, if you stop you can hear pages
being turned as your host works on, but the spiral wrought iron staircase
at the hallway's end has your attention. Passing the bathroom, a
large and meticulously tidy bedroom and a slightly smaller but no less
organized office, you finally reach your goal and peer up. The top
of the staircase is open to the room above and is invitingly lit - a serene
golden glow seems to call to you and you climb up, to the second level
of the apartment to see what can be found here.
In marked contrast to the modern apartment below, a library fitting of a medieval scholar awaits your interest. The lighting is candle like, but is actually supplied by strange globes that glow with a benevolent yellow light. The setting is as serene as the apartment below, but somehow more calming to the human soul with its leather and wood. Bookshelves full of books reach up to the ceiling, several couches and large armchairs are arranged for comfort and ease of reading. Several large mahogany desks are scattered about the large room, each littered with objects and books. A large leather-bound book rests atop the desk closest to you. It is exquisitely crafted and from the looks of it, hand made. There is nothing on the cover to tell you of what is inside. A modern spiral bound notebook, labeled "Rants" lies beside the the book and a smaller leather-bound handmade book is beside that. |
