It’s the third annual "Choke and Croak" ½ marathon and 5 km run (or walk or bike) on Saturday, May 5. You may register the morning of the race at 7:30 a.m. at the official finish line. The race starts are 8 a.m. Any members of our church will be shuttled out in the church van. Sponsored by Pepsi and several local churches, they have enabled all churches to participate by making it a fund raising event for your own church. Runners, walkers or bikers need to get sponsor forms from the church office or bulletin board, get sponsors to sign up and make arrangements to participate. The money you collect from your sponsors will go to a designated project within our church. There will be random prize drawings and overall awards for each age group category. Brochures and sponsor sheets are on the bulletin board.
All women will be honored in the morning worship service on Sunday, May 13. Invite an important woman in your life to church that day. All women will get a small gift of appreciation for the important role they play in all of our lives.
The Evangelism Committee will be making home visits the last Wednesday of each month. For any interested in going with them, meet at the church at 6:45 p.m. for prayer and planning. They will leave promptly at 7 p.m.

Sunday, May 6 heralds the beginning of a new Sunday school program. On that day adult classes will meet as usual at 9:45 a.m. All children 3 years old through high school will meet downstairs at 9:45 a.m. for breakfast! Morning worship will begin at 10:45 a.m. as usual. During the service, all children and *students will be dismissed to their Sunday school classes downstairs. They will conclude at noon. This schedule will continue throughout the summer. If you can help provide food items and/or help during the breakfast time, contact Alice Salmon, 276-6813.
*7-12th grade students will have Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. on the first two Sundays of each month, but will be dismissed during the morning worship service on the third & fourth Sundays (and 5th when applicable).
NEW ADULT
SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS
Beginning Sunday, May 6 a new young marrieds class will begin at 9:45 a.m. in the parlor, led by Jim Phelps. He will be teaching from the book "Mastering Money in Your Marriage" by Ron Blue. This class on finances will deal with budgeting, debt, giving, and coming to agreeable financial decisions. Books are available for $5 each. (If you have children be sure to bring them for breakfast, then they will be released for Sunday school during the morning worship service.)
Because of the changes in our "summer" schedule for Sunday school, the Opening Ceremony program held on the first Sunday of each month has been discontinued. At this time we would like to thank all who participated by leading this program from month to month while we celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, sang praises to God and began a new month together.
