Plymouth Childbirth Education
Association

(734) 459 - 7477
Founded in 1971 with the help of a medical advisory board, PCEA, a nonprofit organization, serves expectant parents of western Wayne County by offering childbirth preparation, newborn care and breastfeeding classes.
PCEA believes prepared childbirth is not necessarily a birth without the use of medications or anesthesia and not always without pain, but a normal physiological function of a woman. With breathing and relaxation techniques learned in class, and other information taught by PCEA instructors, the expectant couple is better able to cope with the stress of labor, helping the mother-to-be to labor with or without medication. Support persons are a vital part of the team, offering physical comfort and emotional support to the laboring woman, using skills learned in the PCEA class. The pregnant woman is welcome to bring an alternate labor support person if needed.
PCEA enjoys the support of area hospitals and physicians. Classes are taught by instructors well versed in breathing techniques, relaxation techniques and medication options.
