As the Tibetan losar new Year of the Earth Rat 2135 approaches this week, Feb.7-8-9, we are reminded of the activities of the main Palyul monastery in India. Traditionally, mantras, prayers or practices, such as Vajrakilya, are done over the next several days in order to purify and eliminate obstacles for the New Year. If one does not have this empowerment, any other prayer, practice or mantra done sincerely for this purpose is also effective.

The month following the New Year celebration is known as "the multiplying of blessings month". During this auspicious time, known as Chotrul Duchen, all positive actions and merit accumulated are multiplied 100,000 times.
