Adoption Donations PBGV Lifeline requires a donation for adoption of almost all our rescued dogs. The rescue donations raised by this policy, along with our other active fund-rasing efforts, ensure that our organization will be able to continue taking in any needy PBGV and matching it with a loving owner. In addition to loving foster care, we provide each rescued PBGV with medical treatment, including sterilization, vaccines, heartworm testing, evaluation for patellar luxation, and a dental check-up. To be able to provide this level of care for the Petits who enter the PBGV Lifeline Network, we appreciate your support of this policy! Adoption fee for all young, healthy dogs: $200 The adopter will be expected to pay for any shipping or travel costs associated with obtaining your PBGV. Through our CUR (Canine Underground Railroad) program, we have some limited ability to move dogs around the country via private transport by PBGV Lifeline volunteers. We will work to assist you whenever we can. Please keep in mind that some dogs are simply not good candidates for air shipping. |
| The Adoption Process Have you decided that the PBGV is the right breed for you and you want to start the adoption process right away? To proceed, please review our Adoption Procedures to be sure you understand the terms and conditions imposed for adoption from PBGV Lifeline. Follow the links to the online Adoption Application, print a hard copy of the application and mail it to: PBGV Lifeline, 3119 N Winton Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46224 Once your application has been received, you will be added to our database of prospective adopters and will be placed on the Adopt-A-PBGV announcement only email list, where we will announce new dogs available for adoption. Placement on this email list does not mean that you have already been approved for adoption. Your application will still need to be processed, references checked, and a home visit made. However, we encourage you to check out each dog announced for adoption and to let us know immediately of your interest in a specific dog. If the information on your application and the needs/requirements of the dog are a good match, we will contact you. Our Regional Facilitator will be available to answer any additional questions you might have, and will assist the foster home in determining if you are a good match. Please carefully review the biography on each dog in which you are interested. We spend a great deal of time assessing the needs of these dogs, and their requirements are generally non-negotiable. Please review again our Adoption Donation guidelines above. These donations are structured to enable us to continue to assist displaced PBGVs. |
| Is a PBGV The Right Dog For You? How much do you really know about PBGVs? Of course they're adorable with their happy fuzzy faces. They're relatively small, clownish, and active hounds who are known for their high intelligence and determination. Do you know what that really means and what it can mean to you as a potential PBGV owner? |
| Possible Sources For Your PBGV A rescue dog deserves to be adopted because that's what you want, not because that's what you'll settle for if the price of a brand new puppy exceeds your budget. If you've come to PBGV Lifeline because you're at a loss for finding other sources for your dream pup, the information in this FAQ may be of help to you. |
