During her presidency Oratorical Contests were held for three
years with much enthusiasm and excellent participation from the
local collegiate schools. The succeeding presidents continued the
oratorical contest started by Mrs. Beatriz U. Dy-Liacco. It was
also during her presidency that she succeeded in recruiting young
and active members to the organization. Typical of the young and
active membership in the PAUW is Atty. Balonzo who in less than
year’s time as president organized that successful and enjoyable
tour to the South. She has also convinced the City of Naga to
finance the PAUW project to improve and enrich the book content of
the City Library. She has obtained book donations for the City
Library from the National Library, Asia Foundation, Thomas
Jefferson Library and the PAUW members themselves. During the term
of Atty. Freddie D. Balonzo she did not call an election for
twelve years after which she campaigned for the election of Mrs.
Lulu V. Macandog. After the election of Mrs. Macandog the
Association stood at a standstill. After the term of Mrs.
Macandog the association elected Judge Zeida Garfin. She is still
the incumbent president.
The Charter members of the PAUW who are still around are very
few… Mrs. Leonor R. Dy-Liacco, Mrs. Josefa V. Barrameda… but
the PAUW Camarines Sur Chapter is still serving the local
community under its changing but continuing dedicated leadership.

The Association celebrated its Coral Anniversary and its Ruby
Anniversary. On such occasions, the Association honors Outstanding
Women in different professions.
The members of the Philippine Association of University Women,
Camarines Sur Chapter are a dedicated group. It is hoped that
henceforth this Association would address itself to the role of
the different professions for the betterment of the quality of
human life. This is not an easy task what with the complexity of
human endeavors and the advancement of human knowledge.
Wish us well !
