CAREER OBJECTIVE
The idea of being an electronic engineer has been a dream of mine ever since I saw my
grandfather fixing the electrical devices that were broken at home. Since that time, I have
become very interested in the improvements in electronics and computing science and their
potential impacts in industrial settings. My goal is to join a project team that will best
utilize my skills and education and where I will gain practical experience in industrial
electronics.

EDUCATION
At University of Minho (http://www.uminho.pt), Portugal, I am currently finishing a
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (September 2002, expected) with a concentration in
Industrial Electronics Engineering (http://www.dei.uminho.pt). In Portugal this is a five-year course of
study. The first four years are essentially theoretical and include courses in the following
areas: Mathematical Analysis, Physics, Electronics and Instrumentation, Robotics and Automation,
Power Electronics, Digital Systems, Industrial Computing, Operational Research and Production
Management and Organization. In the second semester of the last year, we have to go into the
"real" world and join a project team in a corporate setting for a six-month internship.
During my studies, I undertook some practical projects in hands-on courses such as: FETs
studied and application; ADC/DAC converter; digital communication by infrared bundle; data
acquisition system for monitoring environment temperature; synchronous motor working; speed
control of an AC motor; power control of CC/CC converters; AC/AC converter to inductance motor;
periodicity determination of short duration signals; dynamic theory in the design of autonomous
robots; robotic simulations; mobile robotics.
Since arriving in Bloomington(IN), I have been studying English and am currently attending the
Intensive English Program at Indiana University. I am at a high-intermediate level and I feel
my English continues to improve daily.

WORK EXPERIENCE
During my studies at the University, I taught in several middle schools as a contract
teacher in my home country for 4 years: during the 1991-92 school year I taught general
electrics such as electrical installations, and during the other three school years (1995-98)
I taught arts, crafts, and technological design.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
MS-DOS; Unix; Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP; Microsoft Office and Office 2000 (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher);
PhotoShop; Netscape Composer; HTML; DreamWeaver; C; C++; Assembler for 8051; Matlab;Visual Basic 6.0
I am also capable of quickly learning other Software, if necessary.
