We spent 2 nights in Vegas, and decided to head out west to L.A., look around, then rejoin the family in Arizona somewhere. The thing we realized about Los Angeles when we got there was that for such a big place there aren't really too many things that you actually want to go and see, but there are lots of things you want to avoid. We did check out Hollywood, though, and Casey went and got her feet wet in the Pacific. After that we headed to Arizona and met the cluster of Griffiths'es and hangers on. We decided to check out the Hoover Dam with them, then begin the long trek home.
Oh, and we did win something at Las Vegas. Casey stumped a 'Guess your Weight' carnie at the Excalibur Casino just before we left, and won a stuffed bear. We then worked hard to come up with a name, something original that would embody the spirit and adventure of this trip. Something that would represent us as a couple. So we called him Mr. Bear. He came with us on the rest of the journey, and mostly lay around in the back seat and Casey fed him pieces of her hamburger when I wasn't looking.
On the way to the Hoover Dam, we spotted tumbleweed flopping about on the highway, and it had long been Casey's dream to see tumbleweed and do something with it. So we pulled over and hijacked one for a photo. We were going to take it with us, but there are a very limited amount of uses back in Delaware for a 2' diameter spiky desert plant with no flowers and no roots, and also might have bugs in it. So we set it free and watched it blow off to the side of the road.
