WHAT IS LOVE

To love another person
Is to see the face of God
 - from Les Miserables

I wonder now as I sit here
if there is any power 
greater than that of love
and yet it's so mysterious

Is it just something trivial
easy to say to someone
without much thought
or effort to make
surely this isn't the case

What is love

Is it the way someone
is willing to share some time
with another person
just to bring joy and happiness
into their life

Is it doing something special
to brighten someone's day

Is it wanting to spend
your whole life with
someone else being
totally devoted to
that person

How does one show love

Is it the way
you smile at
another person

Is it the way
your speech change
to something soft
and gentle

Is it the way
you look at
another person
the way the eyes shine
when you gaze
into another person's face
wordlessly looking
into their eyes

I don't know if
any person truly
understands love
or even know of
its power

I know I don't

The bible defines love
as the greatest power
in the universe
saying it's greater
than faith
even greater than hope

Love puzzles mankind
but the true answer
is rather simple

GOD IS LOVE

Jesus knew love
when He offered His life
to save mankind

And to know love
is truly to see
the face of God
