| As you can see, Miss Heidi Dee-Dee was "The Queen" of the house. She ruled! She was such a little bitty thing when I first acquired her in 1986. She could fit in the palm of your hand she was so small. Miss Heidi Dee-Dee came to reside in Michigan from a pet store in Evansville, Indiana. When I first saw "The Deeders" the first day at this pet store, she kept looking at me and gave me this look that said, "Please take me home...please." The next day I went back to the pet store, hoping she was still there and to my amazement, she was in the same crate where I last saw her the day prior. She, again, presented me with that same endearing expression, except this time it seemed to be more dramatic! How could I resist her any longer. She stole my heart! What a "little weasle." She weasled herself right into my heart (LOL!) Upon the long ride home to Michigan, I thought something was possibly wrong with her because she would not go "potty" until arriving on Michigan soil. Then she decided it was time to relieve herself as soon as she had crossed the Ohio/Michigan line. (haha!) The first destination in Michigan was at my mother's home. Miss Heidi Dee-Dee and Grammy developed a close relationship in time; especially when we moved back home in 1988 to be near Grammy. She was such a sweet little girl. Look at those pink, perky ears. She had had her ears already cropped and her tail bobbed when I acquired her. Upon our final destination to the upper lower peninsula of Michigan, Miss Heidi Dee-Dee was soon introduced to her older half-brother, "Sir Hanz Von." She went up to him and didn't appear to be afraid. "Sir Hanz" was quite cool and mellow, even though he had the nickname, "The Growlaleeo." He didn't bark at her or growl. He proceeded to sniff her all over and that was about it. Then Miss Heidi found Sir Hanz' toy box (a shoebox) with all of his toys. She commenced to empty all of Sir Hanz' toys and had them strewn all over the living room floor. She then carried the "shoebox" around in her mouth as if to say, "Hey, look at me!" Then she started her little "con-job." She started coughing and it was decided she needed to be checked by the vet. To rule out all possibilities of kennel cough, she was given some antibiotics. There were about 3-4 trips to the vet's office. At home, Miss Heidi Dee-Dee kept on coughing; however, when at the vet's office, she wouldn't cough one bit! The vet said that she was probably "conning" in order to gain attention. Miss Heidi Dee-Dee soon outgrew her cough and resumed the role of a happy, healthy, and energetic Schnauzer puppy. She did like to be the "center of attention" and could always do things to make you laugh and love her even more. She even liked to grab a hold of Sir Hanz' whiskers and tease him. She was such a "little stinker." Sir Hanz wouldn't bite or growl at her; although when he had enough teasing, he would let her know "it was time to quit horsing around." Miss Heidi Dee-Dee and Sir Hanz became great buddies, with Sir Hanz being the protective "Big Brother." |
