Mexico 2 - Dos Ojos Cenote & Playa Del Carmen
Casapagina
After returning to Playa Del Carmen from Tulum we needed something to fill our days other than baking on the beach.  We decided to explore some of the cenotes in the area.  The  cenotes are miles and miles of caves and caverns created by water eroding the porous limestone running under the jungle all along the Mayan coast.  They were, and still are, considered sacred by the Mayans but can be happily Dived or snorkelled with a guide.
Due to my extreme hardcoreness, I dove the Dos Ojos cenote while Sarah, Kezza and Stephan snorkelled.  They insisted it was extreme snorkelling but I believe the following pics will prove the extremeness of the diving.

Here we are adjusting and checking our equipment in the Bat Cave in preparation for the dive through the caves. (Im on the extreme right)
After our short descent, we collected our lamps and headed into the darkness. (that's me, second from the right)

Sarah, Steph and Kezza would like you to know they are busy breathing and floating...IN THE EXTREME.
After my initial panic and resultant heart palpatations at the realization that there is really no viable exit strategy from the caves should something go wrong.  My only hope was to follow the guide and keep breathing.

The snorkellers also encountered a close call when Kezza's snorkel momentarily took on water and they were forced to return to the launch platform for a snack.  Frightening.
Pat getting relaxed down there, showing the huevos.

Sarah's counter to the huevos: "We saw bats." ooooooooh.
Meanwhile, back on dry land...
After my first dive down there I was feeling (and looking) a bit like a Navy Seal.
Going for a swim in the bat cave afterward.
Backflips...part of my Navy Seal Training.
Playa Del Carmen
Playa Del Carmen has been our home base since coming to Mexico, it helps that every road leads to the beach.
We like the beach.  Steph and I take a break from the backgammon
The girls break for nothing!...except tacos.
Backgammon on the beach, when this was taken Steph was in the process of whipping me 6 games to none.  Sometimes your dice arent as lucky as you are.
