Costa Rica 1 - Puerto Viejo De Talamanca & Bocas Del Toro, Panama
Casapagina
As San Jose is a city that you just want to get out of we took the bus from San Jose to Puerto Viejo the day after arriving.  While only 4 hours long, it made the bus in South America look like luxury cruisers (with the exception of Bolivia's public transit system) and after sitting in the aisle on our Mochilas for 3 hours and 45minutes we finally got a seat.  The last 15 minutes were sweet.  In Pto Viejo we rented bikes and took in all the beaches along the 13km stretch to Manzanillo, which now stands as one of our favourite beaches.
From Pto. Viejo we headed into Panama and Bocas Del Toro, an archipeligo reaching into the Carribean sea, we stayed for a few days to celebrate my birthday and had time to kayak, snorkel and take a boat trip around the islands.
Chappy, looks prett?y relaxed for her first time on a Chicken Bus, but I got the coveted Door spot.
Manzillo Beach, only 13kms uphill from Puerto Viejo.
Sarah reall?y liked this beach, especially because it meant the end of the bike ride.
Pat liked his cruiser so much he tried to ride it into the ocean...unsuccessfully...stupid sand.
Bocas Del Toro
After another chicken bus and a scary border crossing we took the fast boat to Bocas.
Once in Bocas we found very comfortable lodging at the Casa Amarillo (Yellow House), owned by Dennis from Denver (not the Quatly, the bald guy on the right - note he also wears a yellow shirt...everyday).  This little fellow was Den?nis's pride and joy, he called him Quatlathon the Quatly (he liked things in twos).
Happy Birthday to Me

Happy Birthday dear Patrick
Happy Birthday to Me!

Thanks to my Mum and Dad for the dinner money (you'd think with all that dough I could afford a couple of razors and a shirt with buttons that work).
We got Friday to take this one.
Some Crazy German took this one, Sarah really enjoyed his Jars of Snakes.  What's up with the angle?  Good form on us though.
