| After our Boat excursion we decided we should get our land legs back by undertaking a 4 day hike in Torres Del Paine National Park known as �The W� (actually we undertook to do it backwards, known as �The Reverse W�, we found the walking backwards difficult but it afforded some spectacular views of where we�d just been). This park is considered the crown jewel of all Chile�s parks and after stepping foot off the bus it is not hard to understand why. Los Cuernows y Las Cumbres tower 2500 to 3300m above the park's pristine glacial lakes. The weather, as with the fjords of Patagonia is subject to the will of the southern pacific and atlantic oceans and therefore is volatile to say the least, a local tour guide gave us a quote to sum it up "without the rain, wind and storms, it wouldn't be Patagonia". We prepared for the worst and hoped for the best. The pictures below are just a sampling of the miriad that we took. I hope they convey some of the wonder of the park. |
