So after Pucon and the incredible walk up the Volcano. Darryl and I continued south to Valdivia, I haven't included any(not pictured) and then to Puerto Varas. We went hunting to see some more volcanoes and some more of the lakes of the Lake District so we decided to rent a car. This went as planned with no breakdowns as are often associated with high-end autos such as the Toyota Yaris (pictured). We made it as far as the Argentinian border but as it was a Sunday (Domingo) we would have been allowed across but would have been unable to come back to catch our boat, we decided to play it safe and stay in Chile.
The boat was waiting in Puerto Montt for us to take us to Patagonia and Puerto Natales. She�s call the Magellanes and is a converted cargo ship but luckily they�ve managed to Febreze out the smell of sheep and cattle and it is now the preferred method of reaching the souther extremities of this immense continent. |

The Yaris took beating on some back roads but faired alright. That�s me behind the wheel on this treacherous stretch, Darryl had the downright dangerous job of getting down the cliff to get this shot. |

It was a great way to get down to Patagonia and see some of the landscape of the fiords, unfortunately the weather in Patagonia isn�t always sunny so many of the pictures looked like this one of a ship wrecked Japanese liner from 1924.
Note:
The grey weather didn't stop the entire compliment of gringo pasajeros from running outside with cameras ready each time the captain announced a token point of interest over the loudspeaker, for 3 days it was the only excercise we got. |

We also got to take a trip on this powerful little boat to Puerto Eden, a small hamlet only connected to civilization by the weekly ferry we were on.
Almost everyone went because hey, 3 days on a boat, what else are you going to do. Behind Darryl is Pat from Toronto (not me), and Kyle, also Canadian, one of the most erudite viajeros I have ever met. |

Back to the boat, the pilots were aces at getting through some of the narrow bits. There were only 12 hours of the trip in open ocean across the Golfo de Pena, a lot of people went to bed early that night. |

It wasn�t all grey sky on the fjords, the next night everyone was up for some fun after getting a rocked to sleep the night before....I�m still working on my self take. |
