Patrick's Latin American Tour - Chileno 2
Casapagina
After our adventures in the National Park.  Darryl and I moved on down the line to Los Angeles.  It was a shopping mecca for all the local industries - agriculture, forestry and pulp and paper.  There was even a shopping mall and more shoe stores than you could shake a stick at.  We opted to continue with our water falls fetish and go check out Los Saltos De Lajas.  A touristy spot for the Chilenos in high season but we had the entire park to ourselves.

After that we moved on to Pucon which provided the most thrills and impressive scenery of our young trip.  The Vulcan Villaracca towers over the town and the surrounding lakes and hills are fantastic.  We biked to a beautiful three sided waterfall the first day and then summited the 2847m vulcano the next.  Here are the pics:
The Self Take at Salto des Lajas.
Pat having a shower...
Darryl having a shower.

Note: We haven t started showering together...yet.
There was no swimming at these falls.
Darryl Having a snack before leaving for Pucon.  The big ugly thing in front is called a Completo...it is described as a hot dog with sauerkraut, aji chileno, guacamole, and mayonaise...it is, in fact, a mess with a little sad boiled weiner in the middle.

Note: The guy lurking in the back, actually a great old guy who helped get us a bed in Pucon.
Darryl and I rented bikes in Pucon and took an amazing ride along a wild alpine river to the Ojos del Caburgas.
This was one of the stops along the way...the volcano is behind us, covered in clouds.
Once we arrived a the falls, we were hot so we took a dip to cool off.
Again, still not bathing together.
In the words of Adam Sandlers talking goat:  This looks superimposed Man!.
Flower shots...gotta luv em.
Sometimes its dangerous work.
La Vulcan Villaricca!

Note: The steam rising from the cone.  It last erupted in 1971 and is still active.
The Team set out early in the morning.
Darryl and Pat felt ready...Darryl was even kind enough to lend Pat some sunnys.
We climbed the last 1,500m, it took more than 4 hours straight.
Okay, there were some breaks...Darryls lovin it.
I dont remember taking this: Was it
a) Altitude Sickness
b) A Hangover
c) An Accident
d) All of the Above
Love the self take.
The molten mag-ma
The Team at the summit.  We look like the no-name bad guys from a Bond Film who get knocked off by the dozen..
The Descent was amazying 40 minutes, sliding on your bum.   This is Darryl on the way down, thats the town of Pucon to the right and Lagos Villaricca to the left.  Unfortunately we didnt any pics of the tabogganing down but we got some great video.  Hopefully Il be able to upload it at some point.
