Here I have displayed photographs of other Cross Stitch ideas used to create beautiful and individual  objects for various occasions.
This is a baby quilt (left) I made from a kit to commemorate the birth of Max, the son of my friend Janet.  I added the name and other birth details as I would in one of my pictures.
This is a sampler I made to give as a parting gift to our friends John and Kim when they left Denmark to return to the USA.

This sampler follows very traditional lines.  Having the alphabets and the date but to make it personal I used quilt patterns as corners for the border and included symbols for both families: An oil rig for John who works for Texaco.  A Quilt for Kim who is an award winning quilt designer and maker.  Stonehenge for us as English.  The Statue of Liberty for John and Kim as Americans.  A Viking Ship for Denmark, the country where we met.  The additional symbols reflected some of the memories we shared as families including their family pets.  The verse expressed all our sentiments.

More than just a picture design and parting gift, it has become a symbol of our lasting friendship.
Here is a picture of a page from my friend Kim's book Quick Quilting, showing one of the quilts she designed and made to which I was very proud to be given the opportunity of adding Cross Stitch designs.

Each of the larger hearts on the quilt has a Cross Stitch design to add to the texture and the overall effect.

To enjoy a full range of Kim's work please take this opportunity to have a look at her web site by clicking on the thumbnail of her book.

This design was taken from a magazine and stitched onto my son David's denim jacket using 10hpi waste canvas.  It made the jacket very individual and unique.  I have also bought plain t-shirts and added suitable designs.

Pictured here are my first attempts at designing needlepoint cushions.  I used 10 count canvas and DMC wool for the Winter cushions and Appletons wool for the Spring cushion.  The Snowflake cushion (left) incorporates numerous flakes all of which are different.  The Tartan Poinsettias (right) has a more Christmas feel to it.  I used the flower from my Firescreen Winter Panel and added mistletoe to the corners.  The Spring cushion (below) includes apple blossom, daffodils and bluebells once again used originally on my Firescreen.

I have many more ideas and designs ready to be made in needlepoint.  These include more seasonal cushions and a footstool cover.  At the moment I just lack the time to complete them.  A regular stitchers dilemma, hopefully they will be featured here soon as work in progress or completed pieces.

Here is my latest design (right) made especially for my friend's 50th birthday.  I started with a traditional Celtic border then added a few small symbols of her life including the countries she has lived, her marriage, career and four children.
