A. Tablespoon means one heaping tablespoon full.

B. Water 10 minutes after morning and night feed.
(All they will drink eagerly)

C. All morning feeds will be one TBSP quaker uncooked oats & 1 TBSP Buttermilk.

1. Morning - feed and water, at night, weigh cocks keep record daily, cocks will lose one to three ounces at start, then level off 3rd day and lose about one ounce per day.

2. Night - One TBSP regular grain feed, one TBSP tomato juice, one TBSP chopped lettuce.

3. Night - One TBSP regular grain feed, 1/2 hard boiled egg white, one TBSP tomato juice.

4. Night - one TBSP regular grain feed, one TBSP tomato juice, one TBSP chopped lettuce.

5. Night - Weigh cocks, they should have lost 4 to 5 ounces, if they are rid of the fat they are ready for the keep, if they are still fat go back to night feed #1 and start over with them.

Best results can be achieved by leaving cocks in pens, in deep litter with a few grains scattered in litter an hour before night feed.

Cocks can also be worked morning and night, a few runs and a few flys, this will get them acquainted with the work board and will give you a good start when they go into the keep. Cocks will lose weight and fat much faster in cold weather because their calorie intake is consumed in keeping themselves warm.

It is suspected that more good cocks are ruined by kindhearted feeders than all poultry diseases combined. Bumblefoot, a large sore on the bottom of the cock's feet, can be blamed on packing around a pound of extra fat, and combined with high roosts and hard pen surfaces can cripple a cock for life.
