SOUNDSHOK PROGRESS Posted:
15/05/04 It's been quite some time since I talked about
Soundshok. So reading the local newspaper this week, I saw
this article and thought I'd publish it
here:
"SOUNDSHOK SIGNED BY RECORD
LABEL Four-man Arbroath band, Soundshok, who
specialise in metalcore, are delighted that a record label has
shown interest in a demo, and will release a single, and the
whole demo will follow.
The single, 'Forensic'
will be out on May 25 on Sadisticecho Records, based in
Bournemouth. The band will visit the label's headquarters and,
while there will undertake a mini-tour of Portsmouth,
Southampton, Weymouth and Burmouth.
The demo is,
'Watching and Waiting as the Chains Pull the Sun Down',
and the other tracks on it are: 'Severed Circle',
'Unbroken', 'Led by the Hand of War', 'Four
Walls', and 'From under the Dead Skies'.
Two
years ago, the band won 'Let's Get Blasted', a competition in
Blairgowrie. There, they beat five other bands and 12
singers.
Last Monday, they played in The Battle of the
Bands in Cafe Drummond, Aberdeen, winning a prize of £100 and
a place in the semi-final of the competition on July
5.
Soundshok, formed on December 15, 2001, comprise
Andy Thain, vocals; Marc Thain, bass; Scott 'Hitch' Holmes,
guitar; and Stuart Lamont, drums. Their influences include
Hatebreed, Soulfly and Slayer.
Forthcoming gigs include
May 18, Cafe Drummond, Aberdeen; June 24, West Port Bar,
Dundee; July 1, Doghouse, Dundee; and July 5, Cafe Drummond,
Aberdeen. The band rehearses at the Abbey Theatre, Arbroath.
"
I give my congratulations to them.
Glad they're so popular and I wish them all the
best!
